The 2nd International Journey to Excellence Conference:
Creating a Mindset for Growth and Development
- Ideas, Implementation, Skills -
27 September, 2017 in Swaziland
has been POSTPONED until further notice!
Mindset: Bill Gates Tweets about it, Richard Branson, the Harvard Business Review, The New Yorker and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell write about it; great CEOs, teachers, parents and coaches understand it. Do you? Or do you have the “CEO Disease”?
In 2006, Psychologist Carol Dweck published a book “Mindset—the new psychology of success” that went on to rock establishment thinking in business, education, sports and parenting.
We believe the implications are even broader, and go to the core of what is needed to achieve sustainable development. But first, what are the implications for you if you’re trying to create a sustainable business or other type of organization? What does it mean to you personally, if you want to achieve your full potential? Why are talent and intelligence not enough?
With special focus on business, education and the arts, the Journey to Excellence conference will provide multiple platforms for sharing exciting new ideas and new approaches to today’s challenges. It will provide opportunities for learning, and for personal and professional growth: all with the aim of helping individuals, businesses and other organisations develop a vision, mindset, and skills set that will enable them to personally and proactively promote positive growth and development in their world.
This is the second International Journey to Excellence Conference in this series.
For an overview of the previous conference, see: https://youtu.be/88H4Ft90yVU
The conference is a corporate social investment project being presented by REDI and Mapili GmbH.
Program Outline
The morning is for ideas. It will feature concise, well-prepared presentations by an international and local group of speakers with a variety of areas of expertise. They have been selected to showcase forward-looking ideas, challenge mindsets, and explore alternative viewpoints. Presentations will be recorded on video and made available over the internet.
The afternoon is about implementation and skills. Presenters and participants will have the opportunity to interact in workshops, discussion groups and creative labs. These sessions will explore the implications and implementation of ideas presented in the morning, as well as offer insight into and assistance with some of the related skills. What works, what doesn’t? How could old problems be approached in new ways? What does “Mindset” have to do with it?

What is the Journey to Excellence?
Through a series of workshops and other interventions, the Journey to Excellence (J2Ex) Program supports individuals, teams, businesses, and organisations in their quest to turn dreams into reality. In doing so, it introduces them to a pragmatic set of tools, new ways of thinking, and a new paradigm of excellence. At the core is a mindset grounded in continuous learning and personal responsibility through which people and organisations are able to enhance their sustainability – be it on a personal or an organisational level.
The J2Ex program was developed by Nina Mapili, MD of Mapili GmbH. With the support of SAFRI, the Southern Africa Initiative of German Business, J2Ex program workshops have been presented throughout southern Africa. Many local facilitators have been trained, including Dr. Sikhomba Gumbi of REDI.
